Aram

Modern design furniture since 1964

About Aram

Aram has sold contemporary furniture and lighting in London since 1964, when Zeev Aram opened his first showroom. The business now occupies a large building on Drury Lane, on the eastern side of Covent Garden, where the collection is shown across five floors in room-like settings rather than crowded displays.

The store's reputation rests on a long association with the designer Eileen Gray, whose furniture it has produced and sold under licence for decades. That heritage sits alongside authorised pieces from established international design houses, so design classics and current work from contemporary makers can be compared in one place. Aram serves both private customers and interior projects, with a contract team supporting work that goes beyond a single purchase.

A design furniture store on Drury Lane

The range covers seating, tables, storage, lighting and smaller design objects for the home and workplace. Seeing larger pieces at full scale makes it easier to judge proportions, materials and finish before committing, which matters most for sofas, dining tables and storage systems. Staff can advise across the collection and help plan a room rather than simply sell an item.

The building also houses the Aram Gallery, a space for industry and enthusiasts to engage with contemporary design. It supports independent practitioners and gives new ideas room to be shown, which keeps the store connected to emerging work as well as to the classics on the shop floors.

What to expect on a visit

The store opens Monday to Saturday and is closed on Sundays. Drury Lane is a short walk from the Piazza and from Covent Garden and Holborn Underground stations, so it fits easily into a walk around the district. Aram is one of several homeware and design shops in Covent Garden, and anyone with an eye for well-made objects may also enjoy the paper goods and writing instruments at Choosing Keeping on Tower Street.
