About Bow Street Tavern
Bow Street Tavern is a Young's pub spread over five floors on Bow Street, a short walk from the Royal Opera House in the middle of Theatreland. The building dates back to 1763 and takes its character from the Bow Street Runners, London's first organised police force, who were based on this street, a heritage that shows in the naming of its rooms.
Run by Young & Co.'s Brewery, the pub has turned its height into its main asset. The Rooftop Bar & Terrace, with awnings and heaters, seats up to 35 guests and looks out across the West End. The Karaoke Room sits on the fourth floor, The Constabulary on the second floor is a private, speakeasy-style room used for dinners and meetings, and the Gin Bar & Terrace on the first floor is a livelier extension of the main bar downstairs.

The kitchen serves pub classics such as fish and chips, burgers, sharing platters and tacos, cooked around the British seasons, and the Sunday roast, with proper cuts of meat, crisp roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and large Yorkshire puddings, is a fixture. Drinks run from ice-cold beers to cocktails, margaritas and a seasonal spritz list. Live sport from Sky and TNT plays on seven screens across all floors, covering football, rugby, cricket and horse racing.
What to expect on a visit
Food is served from noon to 9pm Monday to Saturday and noon to 8pm on Sunday, with the bar open from 11am to 11pm in the week, until midnight on Friday and Saturday, and noon to 10pm on Sunday. Went to Bow Street Tavern to watch the West Ham vs Arsenal match and had such a great experience. I was there with my 4 month old who was crying, and the staff were incredibly understanding and kind. They even helped carry my stroller upstairs. Lovely pub, good food and dessert, but the service was honestly exceptional. Very grateful for the kindness shown to us.
What a wonderful Easter Sunday experience at the Bow Street Tavern! We were made to feel incredibly welcome from the moment we walked in. We ordered their traditional Sunday Roast and it was absolutely delicious – perfectly cooked, hearty, and full of flavour. The real standout of our visit, though, was the staff: everyone was so polite, attentive, and genuinely kind to us, making us feel right at home. Great food, lovely atmosphere in a historic setting, and top-class service. Highly recommended!
The hidden gem of Covent Garden Stumbled into the Bow Street Tavern and honestly couldn't have been more impressed. The staff are genuinely some of the warmest, most welcoming you'll find anywhere in London. Nothing's too much trouble and it shows from the moment you walk in. The pub itself is stunning. The decor and layout strike that perfect balance between historic character and a contemporary buzz. It's got real personality. Lots of great nooks to tuck into for a quieter drink, but the main floor has a brilliant energy too. It just feels like a proper pub should. Now, the sausage roll. Let's talk about the sausage roll. I've been a loyal Guinea devotee for years, but I'm sorry, this one's better. Properly seasoned, perfectly pastried, criminally good. The Guinea has had a good run, but the throne has changed hands. If you're in Covent Garden and haven't been here yet, you're doing it wrong.
