Emanuel von Baeyer

Emanuel von Baeyer opened a windowfront gallery on Cecil Court in September 2024, bringing a lively programme of group and solo exhibitions to one of central London's most charming streets. The London dealer specialises in prints and drawings, and the Cecil Court space shows old master works on paper alongside modern and contemporary artists.

The exhibition calendar has been dense since the opening show, taking in Walter Sickert and His Circle, Impressionist Printmaking, the printed oeuvre of Marie Laurencin, a survey of Tony Bevan's work from the 1980s and 1990s, and solo presentations for artists including Neil Gall, Angela Barrett and Judith Rothchild. A recurring Prints and Drawings from the 16th to the 20th Century show anchors the programme in the gallery's core trade.

Collectors of old master prints and drawings will find the historical material the gallery is known for, while the roster of represented and exhibited artists gives the changing shows a contemporary edge. The mix of thematic group exhibitions and individual presentations means there is usually something new in the window, and the gallery also takes part in fairs such as Photo London and Classic Art London.

What to expect on a visit

The gallery opens Wednesday to Friday from 12 noon to 6.30pm and Saturday from 12 noon to 6pm. Monday, Tuesday and Sunday are by appointment only, arranged by email. It is among the more focused art galleries in Covent Garden, and Darnley Fine Art at the other end of the court is a natural pairing for anyone collecting works on paper.
