Franco Manca Covent Garden
Neapolitan sourdough pizza behind Covent Garden Market.
About Franco Manca Covent Garden
Franco Manca Covent Garden is a sourdough pizzeria on Maiden Lane, tucked away behind Covent Garden Market in the heart of the West End and a short walk from Covent Garden and Charing Cross stations. It is part of the group known for Neapolitan-style sourdough pizza, and the kitchen takes its cue from Naples with slow-proved bases and seasonal, locally sourced toppings.
The group's line is that not all pizzas are made equal, and that no corners are cut on the way to the table, only crusts. Specials change with the seasons and are chalked on the in-venue board. The Covent Garden restaurant is run by manager Velizar Velikov and describes itself as cosy and welcoming, with a downstairs room for up to 40 standing or 32 seated that can be reserved for parties and get-togethers. A lunch deal, a loyalty scheme and pizza masterclasses run across the group.
A sourdough pizza in Covent Garden for shoppers and theatregoers
Maiden Lane is a narrow historic street running parallel to the Strand, just south of the Piazza, and its quieter feel suits a neighbourhood pizzeria while keeping it within the busy heart of the district. The restaurant handles dine-in, order and collect through its own online service, takeaway and delivery via Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat. Facilities include outdoor seating, wifi and baby changing, and dogs are welcome; mobility access is restricted.
