Lakrids by Bülow

Lakrids by Bülow is a Nordic liquorice shop on Monmouth Street at Seven Dials, and it specialises in gourmet liquorice described by the brand as liquorice with a tropical twist. It is a certified B Corp, which it says makes it the first premium confectionery company in the Nordics to hold that certification.

The brand's range is built around slow-crafted liquorice, liquorice with chocolate, gift boxes and limited editions, including seasonal summer releases. Its story and sustainability work sit alongside the product, and it runs a long-term Share It With a Hater initiative offering free samples to liquorice doubters, a playful way of winning over sceptics.

It opens daily from 11am, closing at 7pm Monday to Saturday and with shorter hours on Sundays, so it suits an afternoon browse rather than a late-night stop. For something entirely different from the chocolate counters, it is one of the more distinctive dessert shops in Covent Garden; if chocolate is what you want, Läderach in the Market Building is a few minutes away.
