About Mello Deluxe
Mello Deluxe is a dessert bar built entirely around marshmallow, trading from a counter inside Seven Dials Market on Earlham Street. It bills itself as the world's first marshmallow dessert bar, and it comes from the team behind Chin Chin Ice Cream, which runs its own counter in the same building.
The concept treats marshmallow as the main ingredient rather than a topping. It is swirled into drinks, baked into desserts and blow-torched to order at the counter, which is what gives the pitch its soft peaks and molten centres. The drinks list includes a Hazelnut S'mores Hot Chocolate and a matcha-based drink called the London Fog, made with hojicha, Earl Grey, spirulina and a swoop of the house marshmallow creme.
A marshmallow dessert bar in Covent Garden
On the food side the counter runs desserts such as Baked Alaska Lemon Meringue Bombs, finished with a torch in front of the customer. Tubes of the signature marshmallow creme are sold to take home, which extends the pitch past the walk-up trade. Sharing a parent team with Chin Chin means the Mello Deluxe marshmallow bar and the ice cream counter are run to the same standard of made-to-order finishing, and the two sit within a short walk of each other inside the building.
What to expect on a visit
Hours run late by market standards, past ten in the evening from Wednesday to Saturday, with an early Saturday opening and an earlier Sunday close. It is a walk-up counter with no seating of its own, so desserts are carried to the shared tables. See the rest of the traders at Seven Dials Market, or browse other dessert shops in Covent Garden.
