One Aldwych

London's first B Corp luxury hotel

About One Aldwych

One Aldwych is an independent five-star hotel on Aldwych, where Covent Garden meets the Strand and the West End theatres. The building went up in 1905 as the home of the Morning Post newspaper, and the hotel describes itself as the hotel for Londoners at heart, wherever they might be from. It was London's first luxury hotel to achieve B Corp accreditation.

The hotel is independently run and keeps a private collection of contemporary art and sculpture spread through its rooms and public spaces, with a resident florist maintaining the displays in the lobby. A curator programme introduces guests to local experts, and the resident team act as recommenders for brunch, ballet, boutiques, exhibitions and lesser-known corners of the city.

Accommodation runs from Superior and Deluxe Bedrooms, in warm modern British style, up to twelve suites and four Signature Suites, each of the latter with its own features and artwork drawn from the collection. Family-friendly and dog-friendly rooms are available. The Health Club and Spa below the lobby holds an 18-metre chlorine-free lap pool, a gym with free weights, a sauna and a treatment menu of facials and body rituals, and membership is open to locals as well as guests.

What to expect on a visit

Dining centres on Indigo, the hotel's restaurant, with cocktails in the Lobby Bar and a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory themed afternoon tea. Private event spaces cater for weddings, meetings and social occasions. The Royal Opera House, the galleries of Trafalgar Square and the West End theatres are all within a few minutes on foot. For other options in the area see our list of hotels in Covent Garden, including the design-led St Martins Lane on the other side of the piazza.
