About Poke House
Poke House serves Hawaiian-style poke bowls from a counter on New Row, the narrow pedestrian lane that links St Martin's Lane to Bedfordbury on the southern edge of Covent Garden. It belongs to the European Poke House group, which opened its first House in Milan in November 2018 and has since grown to more than 160 sites across Italy, Spain, France, Portugal, Romania, the UK and the US.
The company was founded by Vittoria Zanetti and Matteo Pichi. Zanetti discovered poke houses on the beaches of California while studying there, and on her return to Milan she met Pichi, then a country manager at Glovo, who saw the potential of the bowl format in Europe before most of the market did. Their stated mission is to bring positivity, wellness and fresh ingredients to customers one bowl at a time, and the London branches follow the same playbook as the Italian originals.
Poke bowls in Covent Garden, built to order
The UK menu leads with house favourites such as the Hot and Spicy bowl with sriracha salmon and a sriracha drizzle, a coconut and lime glazed salmon bowl, a Hearty Chicken Curry bowl and a Creamy Roasted Veggies bowl for those skipping fish. Bowls are assembled in front of you, so swapping a base, a protein or a topping is straightforward, and the healthy takeaway format suits a quick lunch between the theatres and the market. What to expect on a visit
This is a counter-service spot with a small amount of seating, busiest at lunchtime and in the early evening before shows on St Martin's Lane. Leicester Square and Charing Cross stations are both a few minutes away on foot. It sits among the other quick takeaways in Covent Garden, and if you are after something Japanese rather than Hawaiian, Tobiko on Garrick Street is a two-minute walk north.

The poke bowls were expensive for the amount of food but nice when you want a light meal. I definitely chose wrong as the flavour profile was very plain, but the create your own bowls give you more choice and you can make a much nicer combination than the preset bowls, but they are more expensive. Staff are lovely though!
A really nice place to stop in if you’re looking for something quick and light. I love poke bowls, and while I expect prices to be steep for sushi-grade salmon anyway, this one was a bit on the higher side. However, as a first-timer, you can get a 15% discount on your initial order, which is a nice perk. The bowl itself was really yummy. The salmon and tuna were fresh, and the flavor of the marinade was great. We felt full and energetic afterward. The location is great too, with a pretty pink building that’s hard to miss! Only downside for this place is the service could be a little better. The guy working wasn’t super friendly. He kept to himself, would have been nice to have a warmer reception.
Located near Covent Grdn with lots of indoor seating (outside in summer). Service and food is absolutely great, however eating Poke quite often (especially abroad), I have to say that this chain is very! overpriced. Alone the fact that they offer 3 sizes is a bit of a red flag. We ordered medium and large (medium equals a small / large a medium.. I don’t really wanna find out how the small bowl looks like). the food is fresh, sauces delicious but again not worth the price as portions are very small. even the toppers (I opted for walnuts), where ridiculously limited - turns out they smashed the nuts into tiny! pieces - I have never! seen this in a Poke bar! I was still hungry after my portion which usually doesn’t happen when eating at a poke bar. They surely offer lots of veg but the majority comes with an extra price, I have never paid on top for mango, maybe avocado but usually everything else is free for the main selection. I had 3 king paws & a tiny! piece of smoked salmon, again tiny portions. We paid over £35 without any drinks. You definitely need to question your portions / price.
