About STAKEHAUS
STAKEHAUS serves steak in buttered sub rolls from its counter inside Seven Dials Market on Earlham Street. The business is female-led, headed by Lily, and describes itself as a quick-serve steak concept inspired by classic American diners rather than a sit-down steakhouse.
The team traded with KERB across London for around six years before taking the permanent Covent Garden pitch, which makes them one of the market's longer-standing names. They also run a second site at the Cinque Ports pub in Margate. Their stated aim is steak that does not cost the earth, and the sourcing follows that: locally sourced British ingredients and high-welfare beef, kept simple rather than dressed up.
Steak sandwiches at Seven Dials Market
The format is steak, fries and a choice of sauces, running from a classic peppercorn to the house cowboy sauce. Time Out named the kitchen's Christmas offering its Christmas Sandwich of the Year in 2024, which is the recognition the team lead with. The STAKEHAUS Seven Dials counter sits in the warehouse section of the building, and its pink fit-out makes it one of the easier pitches to spot from the gallery above.
What to expect on a visit
Hours follow the market, from midday on Mondays and Tuesdays and from eleven in the morning from Wednesday to Saturday, closing at half past ten in the evening on the later days and earlier on Sundays. Order at the counter and eat at the shared tables downstairs. See the whole line-up at Seven Dials Market, or browse other takeaways in Covent Garden.
