About Sukoshi
Sukoshi is the sushi counter in Cucumber Alley, the upper run of Seven Dials Market on Earlham Street. It is run by chef Andrew Le together with his father, and everything is cut and rolled to order in front of the counter rather than pre-packed, which is the point of the pitch.
The menu covers the standard Japanese formats and a few of the kitchen's own. Hosomaki are the compact classic rolls, offered with cucumber, avocado, salmon or tuna. Uramaki are the inside-out rolls, with the seasoned rice on the outside. Nigiri are slices of fish over rice with a touch of wasabi, and sashimi is served as plain sliced sushi-grade fish. Beyond those, the counter runs premium rolls of its own design, tataki of seared fish brushed with garlic oil and topped with roasted sesame, shumai steamed shrimp dumplings with a soy dipping sauce, and kataifi shrimps wrapped in crisp pastry with sweet chilli mayo.
Sushi at Seven Dials Market
Because the team work to order, the queue at Sukoshi sushi moves at the pace of the knife rather than the till, and the counter is a better bet for a sit-down plate than a grab-and-go lunch. Reservations are not taken at the market pitch, in line with the rest of the building. The full menu is published on the company's own site.
What to expect on a visit
Sukoshi publishes its own hours: from midday on Mondays and Tuesdays, from eleven in the morning until half past ten in the evening from Wednesday to Saturday, and from eleven until nine on Sundays. It sits in the corner of Cucumber Alley on the upper level. See the whole trader line-up at Seven Dials Market, or browse other restaurants in Covent Garden.
