The Round House

The Round House is a Fuller's pub on the corner of Garrick Street, instantly recognisable by the rounded facade that gives it its name. It describes itself as a traditional beer house offering a quintessential British pub experience, and its position between the Strand and the piazza makes it a natural meeting point before the theatre or for a drink between sights.

Fuller's runs the pub and the bar reflects the brewery's range, from modern craft beers through to cask classics such as London Pride and ESB, with guest ales rotating on the hand pumps. Food is served through the afternoon only, from 11am until 5pm Monday to Saturday and from noon until 5pm on Sunday, so it suits lunch and an early evening pint rather than a late dinner.

The interior is compact and characterful, and outside seating wraps the corner with a covered smoking area for poorer weather. The pub lists step-free access, baby changing facilities, free WiFi and a welcome for families and dogs, including assistance dogs. Because capacity is limited it does not take table bookings, but walk-ins are welcome and a 360-degree tour on its website shows the rooms before you arrive.

What to expect on a visit

The pub opens at 11am Monday to Saturday and noon on Sunday, closing at 11pm in the week, midnight on Friday and Saturday, and 10.30pm on Sunday. Leicester Square and Covent Garden stations are both a short walk, and the Bedford Street bus stop on the Strand is the nearest.
