The Sun Tavern
A traditional Long Acre pub with a fee-free party room
About The Sun Tavern
The Sun Tavern is a traditional pub on Long Acre, two minutes on foot from Covent Garden station, with an Art Deco feel and a fireplace for colder evenings. It is run by The Morton-Scott Pub Company, an independent group established in 2003 that also operates The White Hart on Drury Lane, and it positions itself as a convenient escape from the pace of the West End.
The kitchen prepares a fresh British pub menu, using locally sourced suppliers and ingredients where possible while keeping prices sensible, and a weekday lunch club offers a sandwich, chips and a drink from noon until 4pm. The wine list covers old and new world bottles, and the pub recommends Chapel Down Brut, an English sparkling wine grown and produced in Kent. Spritzes run two-for-one on weekday afternoons through the summer.
A pub on Long Acre with a private bar upstairs
The spacious upstairs bar and dining room can be reserved exclusively, with its own fully staffed bar, seating for 40 or standing room for 60, and no hire fee. It has hosted live music, company meetings, pub quizzes, press nights, wedding receptions and a pop-up opera, and a buffet menu caters for parties from 20 to 200 guests, with classic and celebration set menus available by pre-order.
What to expect on a visit
Doors open at noon daily, closing at 11pm Monday to Thursday, midnight on Friday and Saturday and 8pm on Sunday. Live sport is shown on the screens, children eat for a pound during school holidays, and tables can be booked through the website or by phone. Reviews
We popped in here on our way from a restaurant to another bar. A great little find for us. Nice old London pub, with a good selection of beers and wines. Staff were helpful and friendly. We didn't eat but they had a good menu.
I hosted a charity quiz at The Sun Tavern on 5th May. We had the upstairs to ourselves, the space was perfect. It’s such a nice pub, the food was great and the staff were lovely. Nick and Liz were really friendly and went out of their way helping us with all the technical issues we had with the quiz. I’d definitely recommend hosting any events here!
Beautiful little pub located close to covent garden. Came for a quick drink. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Nice choice of drinks at usual London prices. Very friendly and welcoming service. Would definitely go again.
