Trudon

French candle-making since 1643

About Trudon

Trudon is the French candle house whose story begins in 1643, and its London boutique sits on Monmouth Street in the Seven Dials corner of Covent Garden. The house makes its scented candles in a Normandy workshop, which gives the shop a depth of heritage unusual among the area's stores.

Over more than three centuries Trudon has supplied royal households and churches, and today it supplies prestigious hotels and restaurants as well as selling to the public. The candles are recognisable by their green or black glass and the gold emblem bearing the house motto, and the collections include lines such as Belles Matières alongside seasonal and limited editions.

Scented candles in Covent Garden, made in Normandy

The shop sells scented candles in several formats, including classic candles, the large Grande Bougie, taper candles, pillar candles and alabasters. The wider home fragrance range takes in reed diffusers with refills, room sprays, scented matches and decorative busts, while eaux de parfum, hand soaps and lotions extend the house scents to the body.

Smelling a candle in person matters when choosing a scent, and the boutique lets customers explore the full range with staff on hand to advise on gifts, gift sets and refills. Corporate gifting and a loyalty programme are offered through the house.

What to expect on a visit

The boutique opens seven days a week, with shorter hours on Sunday. Monmouth Street radiates from the Seven Dials junction among a cluster of design-led shops, a short walk from Covent Garden and Leicester Square Underground stations. Trudon is one of the homeware and home fragrance shops in Covent Garden, and the leather goods at Nappa Dori are a few doors along the same street.
