Duncannon Street is a short street at the southern edge of the Covent Garden district, running between the Strand and the area around Trafalgar Square and St Martin-in-the-Fields. It is a busy connective street carrying traffic and pedestrians between two of central London's most heavily used spaces, close to Charing Cross station. Frontages along Duncannon Street include commercial premises, cafes and buildings associated with the church and public spaces nearby, set among the grand nineteenth-century architecture of this part of the West End. Its position gives it very high footfall, with commuters, visitors and theatregoers passing through on their way between the Strand and Trafalgar Square. The street is short but prominent, forming part of the approach to St Martin-in-the-Fields and the open spaces beyond.
