Wild Court in Covent Garden

Wild Court is a small court on the northern side of the district, set off Wild Street in the block between Drury Lane and Kingsway. It is an enclosed and quiet space, screened from the busier roads nearby by the buildings that surround it, and it carries the compact scale typical of the courts of this part of Covent Garden. The setting is plain and functional, with brick and later frontages defining its short bounds and the backs of neighbouring premises pressing close. Foot traffic is light and largely local, made up of residents and workers reaching it from the streets nearby rather than passing visitors. Wild Court takes its name from its position off Wild Street, and its character rests on this retiring, tucked-away quality away from the theatre and market crowds. It offers a calm, enclosed corner in the northern reach of the district, defined by its quiet position rather than by shops or landmarks along its brief length.
