About Arôme Bakery
Arôme Bakery is a French-style bakery on Mercer Street, in The Yards between Seven Dials and the Covent Garden Piazza. Everything is baked fresh on site each day, and the counter pairs time-honoured French techniques with Asian ingredients, inspired by the seasons.
The signature bake is the Arôme Honey Butter Toast, a thick slice of soft, fluffy shokupan wrapped in a crunchy honey crust. Alongside it sit the classics, the Croissant 1930 and pain au chocolat among them, and the more unusual pieces that give the bakery its character, such as the Miso Bacon Escargot and the Gula Melaka Coconut Twist. Arôme runs a second London bakery on Duke Street in Marylebone, but Mercer Street is the Covent Garden original.

The range covers croissants, brioche, Danish pastries, whole breads, tarts and quiches, with savoury options such as a sausage and cheese croissant finished with Japanese barbecue sauce. Same-day click and collect is available through the website, with pastries ready about half an hour after an order is accepted, and items can sell out. Premium, seasonally chosen ingredients guide what appears on the shelves through the year.
What to expect on a visit
Baking happens throughout the day, so there is usually something warm at the counter. The bakery is closed on Mondays, opens from 8am to 5pm from Tuesday to Saturday and from 9am to 4pm on Sundays. It suits a morning croissant and coffee as much as a slower pause over the honey toast. Compare it with other Covent Garden bakeries, including the Swedish buns at Fabrique on Earlham Street a couple of minutes away.

There was a queue for dine-in, but it was totally worth the wait. It’s best to go early because the popular and must-have items sell out by the afternoon. The croissant and honey butter toast were some of the best things we’ve ever tried. The coffee and matcha were also delicious. Definitely a place we’d visit again.
Had heard a lot about this place and it certainly lived upto it! The savoury croissant was pretty looking and delicious..different taste. But the Honey Butter toast was scrumpliciousssss! Cant wait to have another one! The caramelised crunchy corners were out of this world! Updated : We visited another location this weekend (Duke street) to have the honey butter toast again (which was delicious ..again!!), but also ended up trying the pesto tomato danish and egg sando - both YUMMYYY!!! definitely recommend and we will definitely be going back! Also ,got to sit this time and observe/experience their service too - it was lovely! The lady at the door helping to seat people was soo warm and friendly - it was refreshing! Adding this review to that location as well!)
I visited yesterday with a friend. The queue moved pretty quickly, and we were lucky to get a seat inside, though they do offer takeaway. I tried the cinnamon roll with pistachio and chocolate, it was amazing! The size was generous and the dough was so soft. My friend ordered the French toast. Overall, I love this place and I’ll definitely be back soon 💯 to try more of the menu.
