Gramicci opened its London store on Earlham Street in Seven Dials more than forty years after the brand first got started in 1982. The label began with rock climbing in mind, and those roots still shape the way its clothing is cut and constructed for freedom of movement. The Covent Garden shop is the place to find the full range in the UK.

At the heart of the collection is the G-Pant, the signature trouser designed for the rock and now offered in several fits, alongside the G-Short. Around them sit shirts, outerwear, dresses, skirts and accessories such as hats, bags and wallets, with pigment-dyed and plant-based natural-dye fabrics and Japanese chambray options. The store also stocks collaborations with brands including Adsum, thisisneverthat and Keen, plus a few exclusives not sold anywhere else.

Split over two floors, the shop is arranged so the trousers, tops and outdoor clothing can be browsed together, with staff able to talk through fits and fabrics and fitting rooms for trying pieces on. It is also home to the Gramicci Library, a working in-store library stocked with more than 100 climbing guide-books covering the whole of the UK, which says a lot about who the climbing apparel is made for.

What to expect on a visit

The official store page gives opening times of 10:30 to 18:30 from Monday to Saturday and 11:00 to 17:00 on Sunday. Earlham Street runs through the Seven Dials junction, a few minutes on foot from Covent Garden Underground station. Gramicci sits among the independent-minded clothing shops in Covent Garden, and Finisterre on Neal Street is the natural next stop for anyone after sea-led rather than rock-led outerwear to wear with a G-Pant.
