Panter & Hall
British and Scottish paintings, prints and sculpture
About Panter & Hall
Panter & Hall runs a decorative arts gallery on Cecil Court, the specialist art lane on the edge of Covent Garden, alongside its main space on Pall Mall in St James's. The Cecil Court gallery, trading as Panter & Hall (Decorative), houses the firm's affordable decorative paintings, complementing a wider programme of British and Scottish paintings, prints and sculpture.
The firm deals in contemporary and twentieth-century British and Scottish art and represents both established and emerging artists, some over relationships lasting 25 years or more, as well as managing artist estates. It supports its artists through exhibitions, art fairs and mixed shows, and describes providing a platform for artists' careers as central to what it does.
British paintings gallery on Cecil Court
The Cecil Court stock leans towards mid-century and Modern British paintings at accessible prices, with hundreds of works listed online and marked as available, sold or reserved, so it is worth asking about reserved pieces that may come back on the market. Its focus on British and Scottish art distinguishes it from the print and Old Master dealers elsewhere on the court.
What to expect on a visit
The Cecil Court gallery opens Monday to Saturday from 10am to 6pm, closing for lunch between 2pm and 3pm, and shuts on bank holiday weekends. The Pall Mall gallery keeps separate hours. Leicester Square station is the nearest stop. Panter & Hall is one of the longest-standing names among the art galleries of Covent Garden, and Sworders a few doors away offers free auction valuations for anyone with a picture to sell rather than buy.
