Sworders Fine Art Auctioneers
Auction valuations and previews in the West End since 2019
About Sworders Fine Art Auctioneers
Sworders Fine Art Auctioneers runs its London Gallery on Cecil Court, in the heart of the theatre district a short walk from Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square. Launched in March 2019, the gallery is the West End face of one of the country's longest-established auction houses, with a history dating back to 1782.
The main auction rooms are in Stansted Mountfitchet in Essex, where the firm holds over 45 sales a year across British and European paintings, Asian art, jewellery, watches, furniture, silver, twentieth-century design and modern and contemporary prints. The Cecil Court space brings that business into central London with around 700 square feet of exhibition space and a private valuation room.
Free auction valuations in London
The London Gallery is open Monday to Friday for free auction valuations, auction preview events and insurance and probate work, with late opening accommodated on request. Walk-in visits are welcome throughout the week, and specialist valuations can be arranged by appointment at the gallery, at home or at a bank. Preview exhibitions show highlights ahead of forthcoming fine art auctions, so the display changes with the sale calendar.
What to expect on a visit
The gallery opens Monday to Friday from 11am to 6pm and is closed at weekends. Because it is a valuation and preview space rather than a shop, it is best treated as a point of contact with the wider auction business, and a call ahead is sensible if you want to see a particular lot. It sits among the specialist art galleries and dealers of Covent Garden, with Panter & Hall a few doors along for anyone buying rather than selling.
