St. JOHN Bakery

St. JOHN Bakery is the Neal's Yard outpost of the St. JOHN restaurant group, set in the small, brightly painted courtyard between Short's Gardens and Monmouth Street in Seven Dials. Opened in late 2025, it runs as a bakery and wine bar over two floors, bringing the group's doughnuts, bread and wine by the glass to Covent Garden.

St. JOHN began at Smithfield on St. John Street and now runs restaurants in Marylebone and on Commercial Street, bakeries at the Druid Street arch, Borough and the London Review Bookshop, and its own winery, Boulevard Napoléon, in the Minervois. The Neal's Yard site carries that straightforward, ingredient-led approach into one of the district's most characterful corners.

A bakery and wine bar in Covent Garden, day to night

By day the counter centres on the group's baking: doughnuts, bread and pastries to eat in the yard or carry away. As the day goes on the wine bar side takes over, with wine by the glass, and there is outdoor seating in the courtyard when the weather allows. It is the bakery side of St. JOHN rather than a full restaurant, so expect a short list rather than a long menu.

What to expect on a visit

Neal's Yard is easy to miss from the surrounding lanes, which is part of the appeal, and the courtyard suits lingering over a glass once the bread has sold through. The site opens from 9am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 9pm on Sundays.
