Henrietta Hotel

Parisian design on a Georgian Covent Garden street

About Henrietta Hotel

Henrietta Hotel, trading as Henrietta Experimental, is a 40-room boutique hotel set across a pair of Georgian buildings on Henrietta Street, between the Covent Garden piazza and the Strand. It is known for interiors by the French designer Dorothée Meilichzon and for Henri, its ground-floor restaurant led by the British chef Jackson Boxer.

The hotel belongs to the Paris-founded Experimental Group, established in 2007, which runs cocktail bars, restaurants and hotels in Paris, London, New York, Venice, Ibiza, Menorca, the Cotswolds and the Alps. Its London portfolio also takes in Experimental Cocktail Club in Chinatown and La Compagnie at Neal's Yard, so the design signature here is a deliberate house style rather than a generic fit-out. Meilichzon's palette leans on terracotta, botanical prints and shades of green, with custom furniture such as rounded armchairs that nod to the 1970s and arches that echo the market buildings nearby.

Boutique hotel in Covent Garden on Henrietta Street

Rooms start with the 17-square-metre Little Covent Garden, overlooking Henrietta Street with a queen bed and rainfall shower, and move up through 20-square-metre Superior rooms with street or courtyard views. The Floral Superior rooms look onto Henrietta Street or St Paul's Church and add a freestanding bathtub. Some suites have views of the London Eye and St Paul's Cathedral. Every room has oversized headboards, marble baseboards, mosaic-patterned carpets, an espresso machine, complimentary high-speed internet and a workspace.

What to expect on a visit

Henri serves a menu inspired by Parisian bistros and seasonal British produce, in a room of long banquettes, wood panelling and light blues against dark greens and burgundies. The bar is open every day and both are open to non-residents, making this a useful address for a drink or dinner even if you are staying elsewhere. The building can be booked for meetings and private events. Browse other hotels in Covent Garden, or compare with the larger One Aldwych a few minutes away on Aldwych.

Stayed here 2 nights and was really impressed. Staff were firstly fantastic and we got such a warm welcome. Room was lovely and very clean with everything you needed. Toiletries were delightful smelt amazing. Bed was very comfortable, air conditioning worked perfectly. We were in the building across the road and the location was ideal for the marathon, food shopping and theatre. We will stay there next year again without hesitation.

We had a great time at this hotel. We stayed there for five nights. The customer service was extremely good as they brought everyday things that were needed like iron and iron board right away. The housekeeping was excellent as they placed crisp and clean towels daily in the restroom. They also brought fresh baked cookies every afternoon. The location is excellent as it is in the heart of Covent Garden and all the important landmarks are easily accessible. I highly recommend this hotel.

This was my first visit to Henrietta’s experimental income and garden, and I thought the location, the quality of the, especially the exceptional service I received from Hotel staff makes it a place that I am eager to return to my husband. The location is so easy to reach so many places in the West End and is very conveniently located close to two underground stations making it convenient. We’re almost anywhere in London. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay as well as my room and look forward to my return
